Wastewater Collections Levels 1 – 2

In this course we will address the major facets of operating a wastewater collection system. This will include:

• Collection system operation and maintenance
• Collection system inspection.
• Collection system rehabilitation.
• Lift station equipment.
• Lift station operation and maintenance.
• Safety as related to working in collection systems including confined space entry,
• Lockout/Tagout,
• Hydrogen sulfide exposure and chlorine gas safety.

We will also have a strong emphasis on math including flow, pressure, electrical calculations, horsepower and efficiency.

This class will be an open forum where all questions and comments are welcome and we can all learn together. Attendees can take the Wastewater Collection Level 1 or Level 2 exam upon course completion.

Introduction to Small Wastewater Systems

November 3-7 from 8:00am to 5:00 pm (with a 1 hour break for lunch each day) at the BP Energy Center in Anchorage

This is the introductory course for wastewater collection and treatment systems operations in Alaska. Attendees can take the Wastewater Collection and/or Wastewater Treatment Level 1  exam upon course completion.

The course content includes basic characteristics of wastewater (physical, chemical & microbiological), wastewater collection systems equipment, inspection, and maintenance, electrical systems and pumps, wastewater treatment technology, biosolids treatment and disposal, process monitoring, instrumentation, wastewater discharge permits, and wastewater system math and hydraulics. Examples of cold regions treatment technologies are featured prominently in this course.
