Young Professionals

While the AWWMA annual conference has come to a close, spring has (somewhat) sprung! Now that most of the snow has melted, it’s time to start picking up some trash! The AWWMA YP Committee has signed up as a team for the annual Creek Cleanup hosted by the Anchorage Waterways Council. It’s a great way to give back to the community, enjoy some time outdoors, and make a visible impact. Pizza will be provided!
Our event will take place on May 15th at 1pm and we’ll be responsible for the portion of Chester Creek that runs from University Lake to the ANMC Campus. Volunteers can meet at this location (also starred in map attached):https://maps.app.goo.gl/kvSP8KbGsbcXjAPa7
If you’re interested in volunteering, send me an email or reply to this directly so we can get a headcount.
I hope to see you there!

King St. Brewery, watch for more events in 2026

More to come in 2026 – We are planning more great events and activities for the upcoming year.  Here’s a snapshot of what we may be up to:

  • Spring Fundraiser: We are planning a social chili feed event to raise funds to support The Water Equation.
  • Summer Technical Training: Look out for a PRV training event sponsored through the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility.

Get Involved – We are currently planning next year’s schedule and would love your input. If you have recommendations for activities or events or have other ideas to improve our group, please let us know.Additionally, we aim to bring on at least one additional Young Professional to help lead our group this year. We also hope to send a representative to the next YP Summit—if you or a member of your staff is interested in attending or serving in leadership, please get in touch.  Serving as leaders for this group has been a rewarding experience for us and we hope it will be for you to! New Partnership – We are excited to announce a newly established partnership with the ASCE Anchorage Branch Younger Members Forum (YMF). Our King St. event was our first joint activity, and we will be hosting more collaborative events as we move into 2026.In Summary – 2025 was a great year and we are looking forward to another in 2026.  We are truly grateful for the opportunity to give back, and we appreciate your continued support of our industry’s young professionals.
