Young Professionals
What a year!
In 2025, the AWWMA Young Professionals (YP) have had a fantastic run of successful events. We have enjoyed every chance to connect with you at our social gatherings and benefited greatly from learning alongside you at our technical sessions.
A Look Back at 2025 – We hosted a mix of technical and social gatherings to support the YP community this year. Highlights included our hit bowling event which we kicked off the year with, the annual gathering at the AWWMA conference, a tour of the AWWU Ship Creek water facility, and our fall combined technical / social event at King St. Brewery. We are also proud to have sent Sydney Van Frost to the AWWA Young Professionals Summit.
Looking Forward to 2026 – We are planning more great events and activities for the upcoming year. Here’s a snapshot of what we may be up to:
- Spring Fundraiser: We are planning a social chili feed event to raise funds to support The Water Equation.
- Summer Technical Training: Look out for a PRV training event sponsored through the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility.
Get Involved – We are currently planning next year’s schedule and would love your input. If you have recommendations for activities or events or have other ideas to improve our group, please let us know.Additionally, we aim to bring on at least one additional Young Professional to help lead our group this year. We also hope to send a representative to the next YP Summit—if you or a member of your staff is interested in attending or serving in leadership, please get in touch. Serving as leaders for this group has been a rewarding experience for us and we hope it will be for you to! New Partnership – We are excited to announce a newly established partnership with the ASCE Anchorage Branch Younger Members Forum (YMF). Our King St. event was our first joint activity, and we will be hosting more collaborative events as we move into 2026.In Summary – 2025 was a great year and we are looking forward to another in 2026. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to give back, and we appreciate your continued support of our industry’s young professionals.
